In this mini-series of work, I was fondly recalling my travels in Japan, being hit by a stunning visual array of communications I admired but couldn’t decipher. Further, I was recalling the ways my colleague at the Art Institute helped my students learn about using a brush and ink to create calligraphy.

These paintings were done with bamboo brush and sumi-ink on an absorbent mixed media paper. The work utilizes intuition, spontaneity and the Law of the Universe in its execution.
